Likabali, April 25: The General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, Vivek Bakshi, called on the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, KT Parnaik, at Likabali Military Station on Saturday, where both leaders held detailed discussions on welfare initiatives for ex-servicemen and Veer Naris.

The meeting, held ahead of the scheduled Ex-Servicemen Rally, focused on strengthening community outreach and enhancing the Army’s people-centric engagement in the region. The Governor, currently in Likabali in connection with the rally, emphasised the need for continued proactive support by officers and troops towards veterans, particularly Veer Naris and their families.

He stressed that ensuring timely delivery of welfare entitlements and rehabilitation benefits to ex-servicemen is both a duty and a moral responsibility. Highlighting the importance of long-term support systems, the Governor called for sustained efforts to address the needs of families of the fallen.

Underscoring education as a key driver of empowerment, the Governor suggested that the Division expand dedicated educational initiatives for children of Veer Naris and ex-servicemen. He noted that access to quality education and career opportunities, including joining the armed forces, would help secure their future and inspire continued service to the nation.

Major General Bakshi briefed the Governor on ongoing welfare measures being implemented by the 56 Infantry Division for veterans, war widows and local communities. He assured continued commitment by the Indian Army to strengthen these initiatives through enhanced outreach, sensitivity and sustained support.
