KHONSA, October 1: Government offices across Tirap district observed the Non-Violence Pledge on Thursday as part of the ongoing “Week of Non-Violence”, being observed from September 28 to October 4.
Government officers and staff across Khonsa and other parts of the district paused their routine work to reflect on the values of peace, truth and harmony. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to mutual respect, brotherhood and peaceful coexistence, while emphasising dialogue and understanding as means of resolving differences.
The simultaneous observance across various departments created a shared moment of unity and highlighted the continuing relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals in everyday life. Participants said the pledge served as a reminder of the role individuals can play in building a more compassionate and harmonious society.
At the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Tirap, Deputy Commissioner Badonlum Tawsik addressed the gathering and encouraged government employees and citizens to carry the spirit of non-violence beyond the formal pledge.
