Yachuli, October 2, 2026: The District Administration, Keyi Panyor, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Swachh Bharat Diwas with a special plantation drive under the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign at the District Secretariat, Yachuli, on Friday.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Deputy Commissioner, Keyi Panyor District, Ankita Mishra, IAS, followed by floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in remembrance of his ideals and contributions to the nation.
The event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Mumne Borang, Circle Officer Hibu Dindie, Executive Engineer, Urban Development and Housing, Tai Kalley, Deputy Director of School Education Koj Tajang, Head of KVK Yachuli Hage Munth, Trade Development Officer Tai Arun, along with other heads of departments, officers, officials, police personnel, staff members and members of the public.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Ankita Mishra highlighted three core philosophies associated with Mahatma Gandhi — Swachhata (cleanliness), Sarvodaya (universal upliftment) and self-reliance (Atmanirbhar). She said that integrating these principles into everyday life and collective action can contribute towards building a just, healthy and empowered society.
She also stressed the importance of cleanliness, environmental responsibility and community participation in achieving sustainable development, and urged those present to translate Gandhian ideals into meaningful action.
As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, the Deputy Commissioner, along with participating officers, officials and members of the public, planted saplings across the District Secretariat building and its premises. The plantation drive reflected a collective commitment towards environmental conservation, expanding green cover and creating a sustainable future for coming generations.
The Gandhi Jayanti celebration served as a reminder of the continued relevance of values such as truth, simplicity, cleanliness and selfless service, while reinforcing collective efforts towards building a cleaner, greener and more self-reliant society.
