Itanagar, September 29, 2026: Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia, AVSM, VM, called on the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt Gen KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd.), at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar on September 29, 2026. The meeting focused on national security, Advanced Landing Grounds (ALGs), disaster response and assistance during medical emergencies.
The Governor commended the Eastern Air Command for its steadfast support to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly during natural disasters, medical emergencies and other critical situations. He noted that the Indian Air Force has consistently demonstrated its commitment to public service by reaching remote and inaccessible areas where timely assistance is crucial.
Highlighting the geographical challenges faced by the State, the Governor said the IAF plays an important role in responding to floods, landslides and other emergencies. Its rapid deployment capabilities have helped in airlifting relief materials, rescuing stranded civilians and evacuating affected people to safer locations.
The Governor also encouraged the Air Force to expand outreach initiatives for Arunachal Pradesh’s youth through career awareness programmes, NCC engagement, air displays and educational visits. He stressed the importance of strengthening Advanced Landing Grounds and air connectivity infrastructure to improve logistics, communication, emergency response and socio-economic development in the border State.
Air Marshal Inderpal Singh Walia assured the Governor of the Eastern Air Command’s continued commitment to supporting the people and Government of Arunachal Pradesh. He reaffirmed that the Indian Air Force would continue to work closely with the State Government in disaster response, medical emergencies, connectivity support and nation-building initiatives, contributing to the welfare, development and security of the State.
