Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, September 5: The Arunachal Pradesh Junior Boys State Football Team produced a sensational performance in the National Football Championship for the Dr B.C. Roy Trophy, defeating Andhra Pradesh 19-0 in a one-sided encounter at Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, on September 4.
Arunachal Pradesh dominated from the opening whistle, displaying sharp passing, disciplined teamwork, sustained attacking pressure and clinical finishing. The team maintained control throughout the match, giving Andhra Pradesh little opportunity to settle into the contest.
Arunachal Pradesh opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Gammar Taipodia. Tomar Basar then struck twice in the 19th and 24th minutes, followed by Tagio Cheke in the 28th minute. Kiran Taba added another in the 36th minute before Damniya Boje scored in the 45th and 46th minutes to give Arunachal Pradesh a commanding lead at half-time.
The second half saw Arunachal Pradesh continue its attacking dominance. Gebin Riba scored in the 55th and 62nd minutes, while Damniya Boje added goals in the 60th and 89th minutes to complete a four-goal haul.
Yarda Kasap scored in the 68th minute, while Kiran Taba found the net again in the 71st and 85th minutes to complete his hat-trick.
James Patir was another standout performer, scoring four goals in the 72nd, 75th, 82nd and 90th minutes. Khyoda Taku Talu also joined the scoresheet in the 74th minute as Arunachal Pradesh completed an emphatic 19-0 victory.
The result reflected the hard work, preparation, discipline and determination of the players and coaching staff. Arunachal Pradesh maintained its intensity and concentration throughout the 90 minutes while delivering an impressive attacking display.
With the victory, Arunachal Pradesh advanced to the semi-finals of the Dr B.C. Roy Trophy, where it will face the Group D winner on September 7 at Narainpur, Chhattisgarh.
The semi-final will be another important test for the young Arunachal side as it seeks to continue its impressive campaign and secure a place in the Dr B.C. Roy Trophy final.
The Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) extended its best wishes to the players, coaching staff and support staff for the semi-final and appealed to football supporters across the state to continue extending their support and encouragement to the young players representing Arunachal Pradesh on the national stage.
