Workshop on indigenous craft beading held at JNC Pasighat

Pasighat, April 8: The Department of Economics, Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat, in collaboration with its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a one-day workshop on indigenous craft beading on Tuesday.

Addressing the participants, Assistant Professor Oman Taloh emphasised the importance of skill development in today’s competitive environment. She highlighted the limited scope of government employment and stressed the need for students to acquire practical skills to enhance their career prospects and remain employable.

The workshop featured Ninna Lego, founder of House of Macnok, as the resource person. She shared her entrepreneurial journey, narrating how a small MBA project evolved into a successful enterprise. She underlined the importance of entrepreneurship and elaborated on her initiative’s commitment to promoting sustainable craft practices while preserving indigenous knowledge.

The programme witnessed the participation of 30 students and was coordinated by Dr Apilang Apum along with Oman Taloh. The workshop provided hands-on training in indigenous craft techniques and encouraged participants to explore skill-based avenues for self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

According to the report, the initiative aimed at fostering practical learning and promoting indigenous craftsmanship among students. (DIPRO)
